You don't need to be portuguese to understand Fado.
Experience the real Lisbon at night, with its colours, sounds and tastes. This tour will take you across the city into the neighborhood of Alfama to taste traditional portuguese food while watching live Fado performance.
Fado is a portuguese word which means fate, destiny. It’s also the name of Lisbon’s most famous musical genre, “the song of Lisbon”, characterized by mournful tunes and grief-laden, soulful lyrics that transmit a strong feeling of nostalgia. We will start our Fado tour walking through the alleys and windy streets of old Lisbon, between Mouraria and Alfama, inside the working class neighborhoods where Fado was born. Our amazing guide will explain to you the history and the cultural importance of Fado, and how it shaped mentalities in Portugal and the portuguese own sense of identity. We’ll end the walking tour at a traditional Fado house where we’ll listen to the heartfelt melodies of Fado. Lose yourself in this magic atmosphere, let yourself go between the chords of the guitar! While you enjoy the music, you will also taste a truly typical dinner. Homemade food, portuguese wine, and an amazing environment are the keys to any good Portuguese evening!
